In case of an accident abroad, you should complete the ‘European Accident Form’ with the other parties. This will elicit all the relevant data relating to the parties involved and their insurers as well as a description of the accident itself and the damage sustained. Your insurer or insurance agent is able to provide you with this form.

You should then notify the Nominated Representative of your insurer or Green Card Bureau of the visited country for the required assistance. They will be able to assist you in the event that the accident is one to which you are likely to be responsible. Indeed, they are authorised to give the other party all necessary guarantees for the payment of the claim.

Alternatively, on returning to your native country, you can identify the Nominated Representative of the other party’s insurer in their country and approach them on the matter. The Nominated Representative of the other party’s insurer can be identified by contacting the Information Centre. They will be able to assist you, particularly if the accident is one to which the other party is likely to be responsible.
