The Malta International Training Centre (MITC), established in 1981 meets the needs of a comprehensive training centre for the insurance, financial services and risk management industries. Working closely with local and international training institutions, the MITC is wholly dedicated to educational excellence in all its aspects. It has trained participants from over 60 nations and runs a number of internationally accredited programmes.

The first level of academic studies is the Foundation platform giving a basic but broad perspective of insurance. In this respect MITC runs a Foundation in Insurance Certificate Course which carries 20 CII (Chartered Insurance Institute of the UK) credits.

The second tier refers to the technical level which leads to a diploma in insurance. At MITC, students can follow enhanced programmes in insurance that attract exemptions from the CII.
The Applied Insurance Studies Diploma entitles successful candidates to 120 CII (Chartered Insurance Institute) credits. As a matter of fact, this course was the first diploma programme that was fully accredited by the UK Chartered Insurance Institute.

The highest level of insurance studies offered by MITC by examination is referred to as the Advanced Applied Insurance Studies Diploma which entitles successful candidates to a total of 90 CII credits. The AAIS consists of 5 technical modules of which the participants of this programme may chose to a maximum of 3 modules each eligible for 30 CII credits.

MITC, as a training centre, offers its services to a range of participants including those interested in pursuing a career in insurance/financial services, others requiring an operating licence, those interested in studying for professional qualifications, those who would like to keep abreast with the ever increasing availability of knowledge as well as others who wish to comply with their continuous professional development requirements.
