The MFSA is the regulator for insurance services in Malta. It authorises new firms, supervises them, and is responsible for enforcement where necessary. It regularly reports on scams and warnings, and you can check from its website when any administrative measures and penalties have been taken against operators. It also has a Financial Services Register on its website, where you can check whether an entity is licensed in Malta, and if so, for what category of service.
Role of Arbiter
Sometimes things do not work out. If you are unhappy with the service you received from an insurance provider, you may file a complaint with the Office of the Arbiter for Financial Services. The Office in an independent agency which can resolve disputes without recourse to Court action.
