New system moves transfer of ownership process to insurance brokers
People buying a second-hand car no longer have to queue up at Transport Malta's offices to finalise their purchase, with transfer of ownership processing moved online.
The new system, which will come into effect tomorrow, will allow authorised insurance agencies and brokers to process ownership transfers, doing away with the need to call at Transport Malta.
The seller, buyer and witness must sign the back of the vehicle registration certificate and present it, together with a copy of their ID card, at any authorised insurance agency or broker, who will issue a new insurance policy on the new vehicle owner.
The system will call up any related fees, including licences, administration fees, penalties, CVA fees and contraventions that must...
